Sibyl Vane 03:10
SIBYL VANE Tonight she’s Imogen, Tomorrow Juliet. A fair Rosalind, Desdemona daydream. And she’s living the part, (And she knows how to act) The star of every scene. (Got the love of the crowd) She’s too good for this (And she knows how to play) Elizabethan daydream. (Got the love of the gentlemen) Tonight she’s Imogen, Tomorrow Juliet. A fair Rosalind, Desdemona daydream. She’s in Arcadia Or an Italian tomb. She knows love and death. She’s living in a daydream. A different character played with perfection, She can’t adapt to your truest affection. But when the make up’s off She is restricted by reality. When the lights go out Is when she loses her identity. Breathing life into your heroines When will she show herself? There’s a change in her eye Now she’s found someone real. No longer living a lie, There’s no script for this. But when the make up’s off She is restricted by reality. When the lights go out Is when she loses her identity. Breathing life into your heroines When will she show herself? She’ll live her own tragedy But one that won’t be retold. The glamour in her suffering... Who said romance is dead?

THE WRONG CLUB Out of touch, shirt and tie, I don’t know why I’m in the wrong club. Fake tan, scouse brow, I don’t know how I’m in the wrong club. Dreaming of Friday nights in Snobs, Don’t want to mix with the yobs or the bully boys Just want to hear the music I know. Cheap style, wet look gel, can’t you tell I’m in the wrong club? Heavy beats, not for me, can’t you see I’m in the wrong club? There’s another place, we can go Down where the lights will not show all the posturing. It is a movement of its own. But they’re shouting too loud just to cause a reaction. Taking it in is a waste of your passion, They can’t change or go against the flow. I try to stay away from your hidden agenda. I say what I think but I only offend you. You can’t change, I’m better off alone. It is the wrong time. I’m in the wrong time. You’re in the wrong.

ALL THE YOUNG HIPSTERS A new day but it’s just the same feeling. I got hope but I’ve nothing to believe in. Messages but there’s nobody receiving. Swallow the words that the media is feeding. There’s a comfort on the screen. I sense a change and I know you also see it. Another way but you can’t work out the meaning. You’ve got a type but there’s nobody to be it. I raise my voice but you don’t find me appealing. You just don’t give me the chance. I don’t know why you don’t invite me to be part of your crowd. I got the clothes but I just don’t fit in your scene. It’s so cruel but the rules always change as to what you allow. I can’t go where another generation has been. Another latte that will keep your body going. The mirror sees a fake but nobody will know it. As you shut me out your influence is growing. It’s all borrowed but you never have to show it. You are forever looking back. I don’t know why you don’t invite me to be part of your crowd. I got the clothes but I just don’t fit in your scene. It’s so cruel but the rules always change as to what you allow. I can’t go where another generation has been. Put my cards on the table, I don’t want to be a label And they’re gonna bring you down. Your acts are part of a system. There’s no escape from all the young hipsters.

For example 03:39
FOR EXAMPLE I once knew a girl, we called her 'For example' You’re not gonna find out why Thinking back to the time makes me wish I was a teenage boy I’d do things so much differently now. The feeling in my stomach, so hard for me to recreate The ignorance because of my youth. The thought of any danger would heighten all my senses And she was at the root of it. Obsession in our minds and lives, I’d wait... hoping she’d notice me. Possession of our thoughts and our time, I’d wait... hoping she’d notice me. (but she didn't and she's keeping me awake at night) I once knew a girl we called her 'For example' Everything Good on our list. From her head to her toe, a perfection that was out of reach We never knew the way we should act. She never suspected, she never could have known the truth, The hours we would spend in a dream. The thought of her attention, the time I always hoped would come Keeping me awake at night. Obsession in our minds and lives, I’d wait... hoping she’d notice me Possession of our thoughts and our time, I’d wait... hoping she’d notice me She is a mystery, she’s got that something, She’s like a siren, she lessens my bravado. She is a superstar, she’s so enchanting, she is an idol... A Hayworth/Kelly/Garbo She is a ten out of ten, she got a ten out of ten. I tried so hard to find her within another context To see if the fire was still there (but she wasn’t there) Obsession in our minds and lives, I’d wait... hoping she’d notice me Possession of our thoughts and our time, I’d wait... hoping she’d notice me She is a mystery, she’s got that something, She’s like a siren, she lessens my bravado. She is a superstar, she’s so enchanting, she is an idol... A Hayworth/Kelly/Garbo

Repetition 02:31
REPETITION I want a taste of something new. I’ve sampled all that you can offer. And though you think it’s just enough I know there’s more left to discover. It’s time to find my latest addiction. I always liked the thrill of the chase, So many ways to take advantage. Some people say it’s just a phase But why not when there’s not much longer. You could have been my latest addiction. A fantasy figure, I thought you were out of my league. Should have been bigger but I see you’re just human. I always had a back-up plan, Something to make the days seem longer. I want escape without the hurt, Someone to make me feel much better. Who will be my latest addiction. A fantasy figure, I thought you were out of my league. Should have been bigger but I see you’re just human. And all of the danger was only apparent in words. Never showed a potential, just repetition. I don’t expect you to understand. You tried to read between the lines. Spontaneity should never be planned. And now I’ve found somebody different. I get so bored so easily.

NEVER DATE A LIBRARIAN She dreams in Mills & Boon colour. She’ll read you cover to cover. Ideas of romance from a period drama No sense, no sensibility. She’s looking over her glasses, I’d stay away from her kooky ways. You should never date a librarian. The knowledge in her fingers, Her trolley full of best sellers. She’s got you in her diary (Helen Fielding) She likes to cast a spell (JRR Tolkien) She dresses up as you like it (William Shakespeare) She likes a mystery (Agatha Christie) She’s looking over her glasses, I’d stay away from her kooky ways. You should never date a librarian. She may be well-read but she’s not well-bred. The knowledge in her fingers, Her trolley full of best sellers. She likes to cook up a scandal (Mrs Beeton) Her crime, your punishment (Dostoevsky) You’re in a catch 22 (Joseph Heller) She likes a mystery (Agatha Christie) The life she stole from the bookshelf, She can’t exist as herself. She’s looking over her glasses, I’d stay away from her kooky ways You should never date a librarian.
